G20 meet in Srinagar: Writing on the Wall for Pakistan

Sheikh Khalid (Srinagar): The 3-day, G20 Tourism Working Group meeting in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, concluded on a positive note.

As many as 57 delegates from 27 countries participated in the maiden international event held in J&K after the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019.

The vicious propaganda launched by Pakistan to thwart the G20 meeting in Srinagar didn’t evoke any response from the participants. Barring China and Turkey, all other countries sent their representatives to attend the summit.

The participants were mesmerized by the beauty of Kashmir, its hospitality and its culture. Their visit to the summer capital of J&K was eventful. They promised to act as the brand ambassadors of J&K and return to the Valley with their families and friends.

The enthusiasm shown by the people of Kashmir to welcome the G20 delegates indicated the change which J&K has witnessed post-abrogation of Article 370.

It was for the first time since 1990, when the insurgency broke out in J&K, that the people of Kashmir didn’t pay any heed towards the strike calls that were issued by the militant handlers and their bosses sitting across the Line of Control (LoC).

As the delegates discussed various issues, life in Kashmir went off peacefully and it was business as usual. The stringent security measures ensured that the militants didn’t indulge in any misadventure. The G20 meeting passed off without any disruptions.

Pertinently, ahead of the international summit in J&K, Pakistan ran a social media campaign against G20 and Y20 meetings in Srinagar. Some Canada-based political parties, Khalistani organizations, and a Srinagar-based separatist organization supported the campaign.

Before the meeting could commence, people received random calls from international numbers asking them to observe a shutdown and stage protests. Many Pakistani handles under fake names promoted anti-G20 propaganda against India.

But the people of Kashmir didn’t pay any heed and ensured that the international delegates returned with sweet memories.

The women G20 participants visited famous Mughal gardens and clicked pictures in complete Kashmiri attire, while the men played Golf at the Royal Springs Golf Course.

The delegates also visited the heritage Polo View market in the heart of Srinagar City and purchased many items as souvenirs from Kashmir.

The success of the G20 meeting in Kashmir is a sign of the rise of new and emerging Jammu Kashmir. The summit was a joyous occasion for the people of J&K. Their overwhelming response, participation, and achievements made it possible for the government to highlight J&K globally and project the Union Territory as an international tourist destination.

Pakistan needs to see the writing on the wall. It should understand that it can no longer mislead the people of Kashmir by selling a fake illusion of “Azadi” as the common man in Kashmir has rejected the idea of separatism and sedition.

J&K’s transition into a Union Territory and the abrogation of the so-called special status have proven to be a blessing for a common man. During the past three years, J&K has witnessed unprecedented development. Shutdowns, stone-pelting incidents, cross-firing incidents and grenade attacks have vanished.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led regime has brought J&K at par with the other parts of the country. The discrimination which common people faced for 70 years has ended. They have understood that they were misled by the leaders, who used to claim that they are the representatives of the people and that Article 370 is a shield, which protects their identities and rights.

The G20 participants praised PM Modi for taking a keen interest in the summit. The international media highlighted the efforts of New Delhi under PM Modi to rebuild Jammu and Kashmir.

The Tourism Working Group meeting of G20 countries in Srinagar turned out to be a mega event. It is a big diplomatic victory for India and a defeat for Pakistan.

By sending their representatives to Srinagar, G20 countries rejected Pakistan’s propaganda and endorsed India’s stand vis-à-vis Jammu and Kashmir.

The world has given a clear message to Pakistan that it stands isolated and exposed. As of date, Pakistan is facing a civil war-like situation. The entire world is aware of the fact that it used terrorism as an instrument of its state policy and the militants groomed by it have turned their guns towards their masters.

J&K is blooming and shining. People have become equal stakeholders in peace and don’t want the era of uncertainty and chaos to return. They are happy earning their livelihoods and have endorsed the change with open hearts and minds. They are working hard to put J&K on the top of the list of international tourist destinations and the recently concluded G20 summit has set the ball rolling.

Facing the heat

The ground situation has changed and the security scenario has improved

The National Investigation Agency has taken yet another step toward ending terrorism in  Kashmir.

The premier investigating agency has attached the property of Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar alias ‘Latram’ at Nowahata in Srinagar’s old city.

Zargar, along with two other terrorists was released in exchange of passengers of the hijacked Indian Airlines plane in 1999.

Mushtaq Latram, who after deserting JKLF had formed his own outfit Al-Umar, was arrested in 1992 and he remained in jail for 7-years. Since 1999, Zargar, a ‘Designated Individual Terrorist’ under the UAPA has been operating from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and was responsible for planning and getting many terror attacks executed in J&K.

Prior to his arrest in 1992, Mushtaq Latram, was involved in offences like murder, extortion, dacoity, kidnapping, contract killing and sedition. The terror group headed by him was responsible for unleashing terror in Srinagar. It used to kill people in a very barbaric way by tying grenades to their bodies.

The NIA’s tough action against the terror-gangster syndicate models in Kashmir deserves appreciation. The investigating agency by taking stern action against the terrorists has played a pivotal role in wiping out terrorism from Kashmir.

Leaders of mainstream parties from Srinagar’s Downtown area didn’t muster courage to raise their voice against the atrocities that were committed by Latram and his group. They acted as mute spectators and allowed him to call the shots till he was arrested.

Even after Latram being caught, none of the politicians from Srinagar’s old city dared to utter a word against him. They didn’t want to annoy him in any way.

After the terror kingpin was released in exchange of the abducted passengers in 1999 and he shifted his base to PoK the so-called tall leaders, who used to win the elections from Downtown due to boycott politics, never spoke a word against the terrorists and the Pakistan sponsored terrorists.

In fact the so-called elected leaders carried forward the mindset of Latram to keep the fear alive in the hearts of people.

After the scrapping of Article 370, many things have changed in Kashmir. The ground situation has changed and the security scenario has improved. Fear of guns is vanishing and so is the threat which the Latram and the ones who followed in his footsteps created.

After August 5, 2019, a common man in Kashmir has been able to breathe freely without any threat and intimidation from any quarters. Terrorism in Kashmir is on its last legs and the leaders, who used fear as a weapon to carry forward the legacy of the terrorists like Mushtaq Latram, have become irrelevant.

During the past three years, the government has dismantled the terror ecosystem by nailing the terrorist supporters and the ones who used fear as a weapon to grind their own axes.

The NIA seizing the house of Mushtaq Latram is a message to all the terrorists operating from PoK that the government led by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has embarked on the mission to erase all the symbols of terrorism in Kashmir.

Proxies of terrorists, who never opposed the actions of people like Latram, can no longer take the common man, especially from Srinagar’s old city for a ride. They have to answer why they kept quiet for 30-long years and allowed the terrorists like Latram to ruin Kashmir.

The abrogation of Article 370 has hit the so-called leaders of Srinagar’s old city hard. Their power to play games has been snatched.

Their statements and actions depict that they want terrorists like Latram to return so that they can once again blackmail New Delhi by claiming that they are the only ones who can control the situation in Kashmir.

They played this dirty game for three decades by telling the Centre that they are the only ones who can rule J&K and prevent it from falling into the lap of Pakistan. They tried to give the same notion to the regime led by PM Modi but failed to carry forward their tryst with power as present dispensation is the Centre outsmarted them.

The past three years have proven that the leaders who used to claim that they represent the people actually used to represent the mindset of terrorists like Mushtaq Latram as they believed in the theory of “Might is Right.”

They used fear as a tool to rule but as of date they themselves are terrified as they apprehend that their properties also could be sealed for supporting the terrorism and promoting violence.

“J&K’s L-G Sinha talks less, delivers more, leads from front”

Journalist and member of BJP Kashmir-based Sheikh Khalid says the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir is being rebuilt under the able watch of L-G Sinha.

Article Source: https://raisinareports.com/india/lg-sinha-talks-less-delivers-more-leads-from-front-rebuilds-jk/

Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha has emerged as a man who talks less and delivers more. He has proven to be a hard taskmaster.

Since the day he has taken over as J&K Lieutenant-Governor, he has ensured that the government servants remain on their toes and don’t even think of becoming complacent.

L-G Sinha has remained accessible to officials as well as the common people. He has ensured that the development projects get completed within the stipulated time. His 2-year stint in J&K till date has been eventful. His congenial style of working and quick decision-making have had a direct impact on the functioning of administration in the Union Territory.

Officials don’t take their jobs casually. They are aware of the fact that they are being monitored constantly and any sort of negligence can put them in the dock.

The L-G has given a freehand to the anti-graft agencies in J&K. During the past two years, the Anti-corruption Bureau and Central Bureau of Investigation have taken stern action against corrupt officers. The war against corruption has led to many illegal practices coming to an end in Jammu and Kashmir. The officials no longer keep the files pending. They are aware that every single complaint is being taken a note of.

The robust grievance redressal system in the Union Territory has brought the common man closer to the system.

LG Sinha himself listens to the grievances of people. Programmes like Awam-Ki-Awaz, LG Mulaqat have become instant hits among the people. The government has set up multiple platforms for the people to reach the administration. People can reach the administration over phones or through online portals. The complaints are taken note of and addressed without any delay.

After Manoj Sinha has taken over as the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, the Valley has not witnessed a single shutdown or any street protest. The stone-pelting has become a history so have the separatists, who used to orchestrate the violence in Kashmir.

Sinha has given a free hand to security forces to deal with the terrorists and their supporters but has directed them to be soft towards innocents. Terrorists are on the run and security forces are having an upper hand. Separatists have not been left in a position to call shots. They have been shown their place.

During the past two years J&K has received investment proposals worth crores. The investors from UAE are showing keen interest to invest in Jammu and Kashmir. The industrial sector has got a fillip as the government led by Sinha is taking all possible steps to ensure that outside investors don’t face any difficulties in setting up their units in the Union Territory.

Footfall of tourists has increased manifolds. A record number of tourists have visited the Himalayan region since 2020. The ailing tourism industry has got a breather. The stakeholders have time and again expressed their gratitude to the administration for promoting JK as the favourite tourist destination. Tourism players are earning their livelihood without any disruptions as the security forces are ensuring that elements inimical to peace are kept at bay.

LG Sinha has reformed the entire system and the common man in Kashmir has been the biggest beneficiary.
The issues of transporters and local businessmen have been resolved. They are no more seen agitating or meeting the officials to get their problems sorted out. LG Sinha has laid a foundation of strong Jammu and Kashmir.

He has ensured that the projects that were incomplete due to one or other reason are completed without any delay. Today the works that are taken up are finished within a stipulated time. J&K is on its way to become completely digital. It has transformed. The young JKPS, IAS and IPS officers are trying their best to ensure that a common man gets all the benefits & Security he deserves.

Steps taken by LG Sinha have put the former rulers and mainstream politicians in a quandary. During their tenures they couldn’t even achieve 10 per cent of what LG Sinha has achieved just within a span of two years. The J&K is being rebuilt without any hindrances and disruptions.

The Lieutenant Governor has shown the way and has proven that where there is a will there’s a way.

Opinion: J&K Has Witnessed Many Firsts in 2 Years, Hate-mongers across LoC Unable to Digest It

After August 5, 2019—when the Centre announced its decision to scrap Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and divided it into two union territories—the erstwhile princely state has recorded many firsts and direct flight from Srinagar to Sharjah, likely to commence from October 23, is one more such initiative that has brought smiles on the faces of Kashmiris.

More than one lakh Kashmiris are working in Sharjah. The direct flight to Srinagar will bring them home within a few hours as customs, immigration and all other facilities will be available at the Srinagar Airport. It’s a welcome step and a major relief to travellers intending to fly to the Emirates.

The travel time between the two cities will be three hours and as an inaugural offer the ‘Go First’ airline has priced the ticket at Rs 5,500. It’s much less than what a traveler used to spend to reach Sharjah via New Delhi.

In the past two years, the Centre has taken many steps that a common Kashmiri couldn’t have even thought about. The tourism sector in Kashmir has witnessed a boom. The outbreak of COVID-19 did slow down the process to some extent, despite that things have moved at a fast pace.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have been successful in rewriting Jammu and Kashmir’s history. The government has set new benchmarks for governance and no one is being allowed to take their job casually.

Amit Shah is slated to visit J&K next week. It will be his maiden visit to the Union Territory after the abrogation of Article 370. He has been personally monitoring the developments in Jammu and Kashmir and has shown keen interest in ensuring that the erstwhile princely state witnesses a massive development. He has gone on record to say that former political regimes couldn’t do much for the people.

After August 5, 2019, many new projects have been announced and the ones that were awaiting completion for the past many years have been thrown open for the public. People of J&K are reaping the benefits and are witnessing development that they couldn’t become a part of for the past 70 years.

People of Kashmir to a great extent have understood that development needs a peaceful environment and nothing can move if the situation remains disturbed. Most people in J&K have boarded the wagon of peace, prosperity and development but there are still some elements who want Kashmir to burn so that their shops don’t get closed. A common man in Kashmir is no more interested in slogans and rhetoric because they have observed that there is a difference between lip service and proper delivery system.

During the past two years, the development of J&K has been a priority for the Centre. Many far-flung areas that had no road connectivity have been connected with highways and main roads. The power scenario has improved. Healthcare facilities have got a major boost. The work culture in government offices has seen a rapid transformation.

But the hate-mongers sitting across the Line of Control are unable to digest that J&K is developing, and that too at a very fast pace. Every attempt is being made from the other side to push Kashmir back into uncertainty and turmoil. Recent civilian killings of non-locals and members of minority communities are an attempt to destabilize J&K again, especially Kashmir, where stone-pelting and street protests have become a history.

The Home Minister is visiting J&K at a very crucial time as the situation is volatile. A sense of insecurity has crept in among non-locals and even the natives. The security forces are facing a tough challenge as every soft target cannot be provided with security cover. But the Centre seems determined to ensure that J&K does not walk backwards and the development that has commenced continues. The challenge posed by a few elements should not affect the overall development and the Centre needs to ensure that the forces inimical to peace are given a befitting reply.

J&K has to see many firsts—the Srinagar-Sharjah flight is just one example—and New Delhi is on a mission to bring Jammu and Kashmir closer to the country. This mission needs to be taken to its logical end.

Repeal of Article 370 ended partition sentiment in J&K. Will make peaceful integration possible

We, Kashmiris, are ready to leave dilution and confusion behind, and build a new future within India irrespective of religion, caste or creed.

ashmiri youth, since their childhood, have been fed slogans of azadi, autonomy, self-rule, and our so-called “pro-Indian” mainstream politicians since 1947 have always lacked the courage to speak the truth — Kashmir belongs to India. We have to cut through the rhetoric and remember to live as Indians and see the partition ideology for what it is — a farce.

However, since Independence, mainstream Kashmiri leaders have kept on changing their slogans — right from the time when the Indira-Sheikh Accord was signed in 1975, bringing in extensive autonomy and self-governance under Article 370 of the Constitution, which the National Conference still demands, to the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s call for self-rule, which proposed restoration of constitutional guarantees in its undiluted form to the erstwhile state. Their politics has revolved around the India-Pakistan Partition, Jinnah’s two-nation theory and power, nothing else.

On 5 August 2019, the Narendra Modi government announced its decision to abrogate Jammu and Kashmir’s special status in Rajya Sabha and passed a Bill that divided it into two union territories. Despite that, our so-called “pro-Indian”, mainstream leaders kept selling the narrative that Kashmir is a ‘problem’ that needs to be ‘resolved’. They continued pushing their agenda, claiming that the Muslim majority state will now be a Hindu majority, leading to erosion of the Kashmiri identity.

The narrative created by them tricked Kashmiris into believing the lies of the two-nation theories and that New Delhi was the ‘occupying force’ in Kashmir.

They are once again trying to play the victim card. In Kashmir, they talk about getting J&K’s special status back but when they talk with diplomats and media they project themselves as victims who have no other choice but to go with the so-called ‘partition’ sentiment.

It’s unfortunate that even today, politicians of Kashmir are trying to do the same despite the change in J&K’s status quo. It’s strange that even after the decisions taken on 5 August 2019, and the policies of New Delhi, everything seems to be the same. It’s once again looking like the so-called “leaders”, despite being provided all the privileges of their title, keep on talking about the sentiment of liberation that is against the interests of the nation.

It was for the greater good that PM Modi invited the regional leaders for a dialogue at New Delhi, despite their questionable actions of the past.

Questions need to be asked

Questions must be asked of these leaders who claim that there was an outrage against the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir. When the J&K’s special status was scrapped and they were detained, a majority of Kashmiri people did not protest against the detention of mainstream leaders, nor did the civil society demand their release. At the end of the day, they were released only after signing a bond agreeing that they will abide by the decisions taken by the government.

People sitting in the national capital should realise that the mindset of a young Kashmiri has changed and they don’t consider the traditional politicians, who fed them with slogans like autonomy and self-rule, as their leaders. The partition mindset of leaders needs to change, the poison they are feeding young brains needs to be stopped. An average Kashmiri, like any Indian, wants their children to study in the best school, get a good job and live a progressive life. But even today, Kashmiris are held in social captivity by politicians, especially by mainstream leaders. While their role should have been to connect and integrate Kashmiris with the rest of the country, they all have, instead, focused on a dynastic rule and received ‘blessings’ from New Delhi.

The so-called ‘people’s leaders’ should stop hoodwinking the masses. The people know that they did nothing for the common Kashmiri. Everyone knows that the kith and kin of these so-called leaders are living a comfortable life outside Kashmir. Their children are studying in famous and expensive colleges across India and in foreign countries. The seats in professional colleges that were reserved for a common man from Kashmir were snatched by these leaders to ensure that their nears and dears become doctors and engineers.

Just a few days back, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, took a bold step by dismissing eleven terror-friendly government employees. The move has created ripples within bureaucratic circles. Some local officers are following in the footsteps of the politicians by claiming that Kashmiris are being targeted. It looks like they need to be told that if they have nothing to hide, then they need not worry. However, if they are carrying the baggage of the past, then they will be asked to explain their position. It’s quite possible that they might also face the axe.

History of corruption in Kashmir

History stands testimony to the fact that whoever came to power in Jammu and Kashmir till 2018, filled their own coffers. They secured the future of their own children but ruined the lives of common Kashmiris. While the son of a common man in Kashmir has been pushed towards stones and guns, the children of the elite families have remained far away from the violence.

Pakistan has taken full advantage of the chaos and confusion created by local leaders. Our neighbour has succeeded in keeping the conflict alive and has sustained the proxy war, which it launched against India in the 1990s. Had Kashmiri politicians not kept the partition ideology alive, Jammu and Kashmir would have been one of the most progressive states in the country by now.

The people of Kashmir are aware of the fact that Pakistan has no love for Kashmiris. It loves the Kashmir waters and rivers, but not the people or the land. Pakistan has successfully exported terror into the Valley and continues to do so. Pakistan knows that Kashmir has a plethora of natural resources, and if it succeeds in its nefarious designs, it would control everything — from its mountains to its waters.

Kashmir has been silent for the past two years and its people are hoping that promises made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah will be fulfilled soon. A common Kashmiri has already accepted the change in Jammu and Kashmir’s status-quo and is hoping that their miseries will end, finally paving the way for peaceful integration. We, as Kashmiris, are ready to leave dilution and confusion behind, to build a new future within India irrespective of religion, caste or creed.

4G suspension saved human lives

The government took its time to lift the ban over 4G services and allowed things to settle down

High speed internet services have returned to Jammu and Kashmir nearly after one and half year. Restoration of 4G services has elated the people. But some critics are propagating that the government has done no favour by restoring these services.

The internet was suspended in J&K on August 5, 2019 when the Centre announced its decision to abrogate J&K’s special status and bifurcated it into two union territories.

The critics, who are claiming that 4G should have been restored long back, seem to have forgotten a vital fact that the internet suspension in J&K didn’t allow Pakistan to trigger frenzy. Had the Centre not suspended the high speed internet services, people sitting across the Line of Control would have made every possible attempt to burn Kashmir through social media. The internet blockade didn’t allow them to succeed in their designs.

After the abrogation of Article 370, Kashmir remained calm as the instigators were kept at bay. The investigations and developments have revealed that elements inimical to peace used internet as a tool to lure youth towards militancy and radicalization.

The government took its time to lift the ban over 4G services and allowed things to settle down after the abrogation of the Article 370. Had it succumbed under pressure, more youth would have got radicalized and could have possibly become militants.

Now, the 4G is back and people are happy, but they should bear it in mind that internet needs to be used for constructive purpose rather than using it for a propaganda against their own country.

The BJP led Central Government has proven it beyond doubt that it cares for the people of J&K and believes that their lives are precious than anything else. When the Article 370 was scrapped many people were of the opinion that Kashmir will erupt and mass killings could take place, but the people remained calm and didn’t react. The main reason for people not reacting was that the situation was handled carefully and no room was given to the miscreants who could have exploited a common man.

After August 5, 2019, our neighbouring country left no stone unturned to foment trouble in Kashmir. But in absence of internet it couldn’t do much as the ones who could have executed their instructions were incommunicado.

The absence of 4G services in Kashmir hit every sector and people have realized the importance of internet. Now, it’s for them to ensure that this facility is not misused.  It’s the responsibility of the parents to keep a vigil on the activities of their children and ensure that they don’t fall prey to the propaganda that our adversaries have launched against the country.

To build “Naya Jammu and Kashmir” is our responsibility. Time has changed and we cannot keep on running after the illusions. The dream merchants who sold dreams during the past three decades stand exposed as on date. All their promises have turned out to be a hoax.  Ones who used to propagate the cause of our neighboring country have turned mute as they are aware of the fact that time to sell slogans is over and they cannot run their shops by pushing youth towards violence.

People in Kashmir have witnessed enough of bloodshed and mayhem they want to live a peaceful life and want to prosper. They have become politically mature and cannot be misled anymore.

Suspension of 4G services for more than 500 days in J&K led to economic losses but it saved lives and provided people with an opportunity to think what’s good and bad for them.

Peace is a prerequisite for development and the economic growth. If there is no peace nothing will move. Ones who are once again trying to create confusion are not doing any good to people. No conflict can prevail forever. Change is mandatory. After August 5, 2019 many things have changed in Kashmir and the biggest visible change is the desire for peace. Young faces who have replaced the traditional politicians during the past one and a half year are keen to serve their people and pull Kashmir out of the quagmire of uncertainty. They are out to change the destiny of the people of this battered land, which was used as a battlefield by Pakistan to settle scores with India. But now the people of Kashmir have realized that they cannot suffer forever and they need to be left alone.

We have a role

One hopes that better sense would prevail over the politicians and they would give a chance to new blood to come forward and play their role in turning Kashmir into a better place to live.

Kashmiri youth have been pushed to the wall due to many reasons and mainstream parties are equally responsible for it. It’s unfortunate that none of the politicians have tried to make the youth understand that they are the future of the country and can play a vital role in shaping up the destiny of their own people.

During the past few years a few politicians have been creating a notion that sports are the only way forward and youth can build their careers by becoming sportsmen.

A few people had even started telling the leaders in New Delhi that sports activities could help in solving the Kashmir problem. The Government of India displayed generosity by providing all the possible support to the state government to give a flip to the sports activities in Kashmir.

The people who projected sports as a solution to the problems of the youth forgot that sports can just keep the youth busy and nothing else. No effort was made to make youth join the mainstream politics. They tried to strengthen the dynasty politics by projecting the members of a particular family as the people who are “born to rule.” Had young people been given a chance, today they could have become the Panchayat representatives and counselors.

The young people need to be made aware about the fact that they could choose politics as their careers and become the representatives of the masses. And politics is not the fiefdom of only a few families. Anyone with the political  acumen can come forward and work for the people.

Kashmiri youth should realize that everyone cannot become doctors and engineers and they have to explore the other career options and politics could be one of the choices.

Since the day Governor’s rule has been imposed in Jammu and Kashmir mainstream politicians have been “beating their chest” over the issue of Article 35A. These politicians seem to have forgotten that they have played a pivotal role in eroding the special status of the state. For them Article 35A is a “fig leaf” and nothing else.

Times are changing fast and new faces are emerging on the political arena of the state. People who have always projected family members of a particular dynasty as the rulers are losing the ground and their credibility is at stake.

Sports activities are important but these cannot change the destiny of the youth. Kashmiri politicians should stop selling dreams to the youth and formulate a comprehensive plan to engage them. During the recent times many young people have joined newly floated political parties and have become the members of different NGOs active in Kashmir. These youth have rejected violence as an option and want to play an active role to transform Kashmir into “Naya Kashmir.”

Since the day BJP has pulled out from the PDP led government in Jammu and Kashmir the National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party have dropped enough hints to indicate that they could join hands to enter into an alliance with each other to “safeguard” the very concept of the dynasty rule. Today PDP and NC are leaving no chance to prove it to New Delhi that no one can rule J&K except them. But Delhi is not taking them seriously as the Government of India is firm on its stand to hold the panchayat and municipal polls in the state as the people sitting in Delhi have realized that they cannot just keep on depending upon the two families which have been ruling J&K for the past so many decades.

New options are being explored to handover Jammu and Kashmir to the new generation, who could become a part of the prosperous India and contribute towards turning Kashmir into a violence free place.

Young boys who have taken up the arms need to introspect and choose life over death.  Violence and guns are no solution. Mainstream politicians should go beyond playing politics over the issues which have the potential to alienate Kashmiris further. It’s the duty of the mainstream politicians to rise above the party lines and come forward to save the generation next from choosing the path of destruction and devastation.

One hopes that better sense would prevail over the politicians and they would give a chance to new blood to come forward and play their role in turning Kashmir into a better place to live.
